How to Make a Powerful Vision Board for 2023 (Fun and Very Effective!)
Do you remember back in elementary school when the teacher dragged over bins of old magazines to make inspirational collages? Yeah, that’s right! We’re going to kick it back old school and do some arts and crafts. Let’s make the most powerful and manifesting vision board for 2023!
I was super excited to make my very first vision board after experiencing the lonlier side of motherhood. I had very little motivation or any actionable goals to look forward to.
I think there’s something very powerful about making a beautiful artwork that you set time for for yourself. Oprah herself always advocated for manifestation and vision boards! And she’s Oprah! There’s incredible magic in this activity and can be a great reminder of gratitude, productivity, hope, and an amazing future ahead.
What is a vision board?
A vision board can also be a “dream” board or even a “mood” board. You set the tone for how creative and captivating you want your artwork to be as long as you believe in it!
You never know where your big dreams can take you when you envision it and put it all on a piece of paper! You can even be one of these influential people that I personally look up to!
Why is a vision board important?
I remember Daniel and I visiting our friend and real estate agent at his office a couple of years ago. He had a cutout of his favorite car under his computer desktop and said it was the only thing he had left to achieve from his vision board. He kept it on as a reminder of what he was striving for and definitely got that bad boy the same year!
I got really inspired and started watching everyone else’s depictions of their vision board. You can definitely do it digitally or if you want to do it like me, I bought a foam board from the dollar store and made a physical version.
I absolutely think there’s a lot of magic to feeling, touching, and placing your own physical masterpiece. I now have mine hanging on my wall right in front of me and I stare at it whenever I feel down because I got some good quotes I added in there!
How to get started with your vision board
what you will need
- computer to search your pictures
- paper to print your pictures on
- coloured ink to make your board vibrant
- dollar store foam board to make it a statement piece
- gluestick
- clear masking tape to stick all photos down
- notebook for notes
smile and put music on!
To get started you need to go all in with a positive attitude and no bad vibes! Think of this as a form of self-care for yourself.
write down a list of what you want to put
if you’re a planner and would like to be more organized, you can write down categories you want to expand on like financial, career, health, travel, experiences and relationships.
For mine, I wanted to focus on bettering my motivation and productivity. I wanted to have peace in my life and build better habits in developing a better version of myself.
stick with Pinterest
I found beautiful photos on Pinterest by using the word “aesthetic”. If you want more money, type in “money aesthetic’. This is how you can find photos that look photogenic and captivating.
Along the way, you’ll notice some quotes popping up that you may resonate with and I highly suggest adding quotes that stand out to you to keep motivated.
print and cut!
Grab your colored printer, go to your nearest library, or literally invest in your future by paying Walmart to develop your pictures.
start cutting away and let your vision come together. Let your heart move the photos, words, and quotes around and make it to where it brings you joy. Don’t worry about imperfect placements or your horrible cutting skills.
“DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT”
laminate
If you’re using a foam board, packing tape will help secure all your pictures from curling or unsticking. Your board will look glossy!
Tips for success in creating your vision board
Here are some key components in creating your vision board and manifesting your dreams and goals
- choose a direction that makes you feel happy and passionate. Do not base your vision board on what others may say or think
- Use photos that make you feel hopeful, cozy, and motivated
- be specific with what you want to manifest. If you want to travel, find photos of the specific places you want to visit or the actual countries you want to see.
- Edit your photos by photoshopping your face in that specific setting you would like to visit
- You can put your target number of followers on your social media too
- Edit the numbers on your bank account if your goal is to make more money
- do not be afraid to think big. Put a picture of your beautiful dream house if investing or moving is a big goal of yours.
- pitch this idea to your children, friends, and spouse. My 11-year-old daughter made hers as well!
- you can make a relationship or family vision board. What would you all want to accomplish together? What experiences would you like to share as a couple or family?
